At Vortex, we take your privacy seriously. This policy explains how our application handles your information.

  1. Information Collection and Use

    Vortex is designed to provide weather information and widget customization without collecting your personal identity.

    • Location Data: To provide accurate weather forecasts, Vortex requires access to your device's location (latitude and longitude).
    • How it's used: Your coordinates are sent to third-party weather providers (Open-Meteo, OpenWeatherMap, or WeatherAPI) to retrieve the forecast for your area.
    • Storage: Your selected location is stored locally on your device using Android DataStore. We do not store your location history on any external servers.
    • Calendar Data: If you grant permission, the Vortex widget can display your "Next Calendar Event."
    • How it's used: This data is read locally from your device's calendar provider and displayed only on your home screen widget.
    • Storage: We do not upload, share, or store your calendar events on any servers.

  2. Third-Party Services

    When you request weather data, Vortex communicates with the following third-party providers depending on your selection in the app settings:

    • Open-Meteo (Privacy Policy: https://open-meteo.com/en/privacy)
    • OpenWeatherMap (Privacy Policy: https://openweather.co.uk/privacy-policy)
    • WeatherAPI (Privacy Policy: https://www.weatherapi.com/privacy.aspx)

    These services receive your coordinates to provide the weather data but do not receive any other identifying information from Vortex.

  3. Data Storage

    All your preferences (theme colors, font sizes, transparency, and selected weather service) are stored locally on your device. If you uninstall the application, this data is deleted by the Android operating system.

  4. Permissions

    You have full control over the permissions granted to Vortex:

    • Location: Necessary for automatic weather updates.
    • Calendar: Optional; only needed if you want to see events on the widget.
    • Internet: Necessary to fetch weather data from the providers.

    We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes.
